WONDER GIRLS SIGN WITH JONAS GROUP OFFICIALLY
From 27th June, the Wonder Girls will begin a new chapter in America as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 (American leg), with their last on 22nd August. English versions of their Korean hit songs Nobody and Tell Me will also be released soon.
According to a JYP Entertainment representative, “The Wonder Girls had signed with one of Hollywood’s top talent agencies, CAA in October 2008. They also inked a contract with Jonas Brothers company, Jonas Group to join them on their concert tour. They will also release the english version of Nobody first followed by Tell Me through digital channels. Their full-length english album will be available in September or October.”
With regards to using Nobody as the debut single, the JYP Entertainment representative explained, “Through discussions with CAA (Creative Artists Agency) and Jonas Group, they felt that Nobody had an irresistible charm surrounding it. The music and overall feel of the song were perfect plus it helped to accentuate the image of the Wonder Girls very well. Industry critics in America also felt that the retro 80s disco style of Nobody would be particularly refreshing, especially in the American music scene.”
As the producer for the Wonder Girls, JY Park also outlined to the media about his strategy with regards to Asian singers debuting in the European and American music markets. He said, “Formerly, Asian singers would rush to do collaborations with musicians in that country when they enter that market. But that’s a grave mistake. We cannot just hand our artistes over to the American-European producers, we have to stand our ground and maintain our own unique flavor. Although the Wonder Girls and I are kinda nervous, we are also contended and excited about this at the same time. This is something that we have planned together for a long time, so I am sure we will not let everyone down. We hope that everyone will continue to show their support for us.”
Before the Wonder Girls, SM Entertainment’s BoA and YG Entertainment’s Se7en have already make inroads into the American music scene. Everyone is full of anticipation about the Wonder Girls debut next. Meanwhile, continue to stay tuned to AKP for the latest on the Wonder Girls and our exclusive coverage on their debut.

This is really exciting..
The Wonder Girls are really popular, and I think both groups can benefit from this.
Jonas Brothers may get some more fans from Asia that see WG are opening for them, and WG will definitely benefit from going with JB.
I think it’s good that they’re working together!
You can check out them performing some english covers on TV shows on these videos:

Chain of Fools (Aretha Franklin cover)

When they did most of these songs, they had only been learning for about 1 year!
They’ve been living in with a live-in english tutor for the past 6 months, and they moved to NYC too. So their english has most likely improved greatly since those!
Again… spazzing about them being connected now. I never thought my US fav group and my Asian fav group would do this.

hey, An I’d have to agree with you on this! I don’t know much about Wonder Girls but they do turn up on ONTD from time to time and seems like they’re obviously popular in their country so, I’d say I’m excited that JB are taking chances on this group. This shows they’re willing to take risks and this will def help Wonder Girls get out there. They’re catchy and it’s awesome they’re dedicated to learning English.
btw, I’m an Anime fan and eventho it’s Japanese the songs at the end of Inuyasha were always catchy! haha

I heard on other news that Jonas Brothers will write a few songs for their english debut album. And that Wonder Girls and Jonas Brothers will have a song together.
Here’s a part of an article I saw:
“And it is said that the WonderGirls will release their American official debut album in September-October. The album will have songs written and composed by Jonas Brothers. The girls will also work with the Jonas Brothers to come up with a electronic house number.”

WHOOT!
KOREAN PRIDEEE!
:)
Haha.
I’m not a big fan of them,but it’s cool. :)
June 5th, 2009
well i hope jb makes their album more soulful cause they HAVE the vocals.
plus some of their fav artists are aretha franklin, beyonce, and lauryn hill so they love that type fo music
maybe they should work with demi since they are all sing soul music so amazingly
their label does not let them showcase their voices…they need something more challenging.
June 6th, 2009
so i just listened to their single “nobody” on myspace and they seem okay… it’s just that they seem so manufactured…
June 15th, 2009
Nay, I’m sorry but the Wondergirls can’t sing at all! Are you kidding! They have terrible vocals and can’t even speak english!
