It’s like the happy ending to a Disney movie: A smitten-sounding Demi Lovato revealed Friday that she is indeed dating Joe Jonas.
During an interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush on his radio program, The Billy Bush Show, the host asked Lovato if she’d ever dated any of the Jonas Brothers, “Umm, maybe,” she said coyly.
“Which one? Joe?” asked Bush, to which Lovato said, “Yeah. He’s actually… he’s my best friend.”
Pressing for clarification, Bush said, “So you guys went from boyfriend-girlfriend to best friends?”
“No kind of the opposite,” the 17-year-old Sonny with a Chance star explained.
“Oh? So you’re dating him now?” asked Bush.
“Umm, yeah he is my best friend and he is incredible,” Lovato finally confessed.
Lovato described her Camp Rock 2 costar as a “complete gentleman,” who “treats me to the most amazing places.”
She added, “He’s perfect.”
Lovato first met Jonas, 20, on the set of Camp Rock in 2007 and toured with the Jonas Brothers the following year. The pair have long been rumored to be a couple, which Lovato had previously denied. The pair recently filmed a video for their duet “Make A Wave.”

I have to admit that I’m waiting for the actual interview to surface before I take this story seriously. We’ll see.
Personallly….I don’t give a hoot of who they date..but close friends can become bf/gf sometimes so anything possible..I am still gonna wait for actual confirmination better than this lol

if you go to Billy Bush’s website and go to the interview section there is NO DEMI so I think we should wait for a confirmation from Joe or Demi before we freak out! I personally like them as best friends and I think dating would be awkward but hey as long as they’re happy I’m happy :)

I would take this with a grain of salt. Billy Bush has been saying all morning that he hasn’t had an interview with Demi. There was one scheduled, I do know that much, but according to more than one source it didn’t happen. People is usually reliable, but they have definitely had their mis-steps. They are going off of this “interview” that doesn’t seem to exist. I would wait for confirmation from publicists from either party before any of us jump to conclusions.

I’m not sure what he’s doing. Now he’s saying that he’s going to post a video, but like I said, I would still take this with a grain of salt. They can always take things out of context. They’ll twist words around. If they’re dating, that’s great I’m happy for them if they’re happy. They should enjoy it while it lasts because when best friends date it usually doesn’t end well, but I’d still wait for a tweet or blog from either one of them or some publicist confirmation. It’s the media’s job to twist words around, and they never confirm relationships, so this is odd to me unless it’s for publicity because it’s out of character for both parties involved.
As is the case with most entertainment journalists, he is looking for his five minutes of fame concerning the whole deal. He probably hasn’t had so meany people tweeting him ever in his tweeting life.

I first saw this article on OU, and I didn’t get the feeling that I have got when Joe and a girl said that they were dating, and yes I am talking about Taylor and Camilla. When I found out that he was dating Taylor, and then Camilla, I got a sick feeling. But I didn’t have a sick feeling with this. For people saying the story isn’t true: I think it is. Billy Bush revealed it exclusively to People, and tbh if I were to trust an exclusive from any gossip site, it would be People Mag. Billy Bush himself works for accesshollywood and has a solid reputation, its not the sort of thing he’d go around making up, he’s not a zack taylor.
I also won’t say that I don’t care, because I do. It’s a doubled edged sword because demi and joe have such great chemistry as performers and people, i defintely see why they would choose to date. I’m just worried that because they are such good friends, a relationship could ruin that, (refer to joe’s dating history :/). Nick and Kev are great friends with demi too, so it could all turn very awkward. I thought demi would be the one girl not to date one of the boys, but I guess not.
I do respect them though for taking this risk, and ultimately I want them both to be happy, so if they want to try a relationship together then good for them.

I hope this isnt true because it spells disaster for both.
Firstly, the fact Demi swore on her career and lied, well lets just say that will haunt her.
Secondly, this is certainly a downgrade for Joe to go from a grown women to a Lindsay Lohan (DEMI) Dramaqueen must mean she is great at bootycalls.
Thirdly if Joe was to break Demi’s heart and lets face it I cannot see them living happily ever after lets just say Demi’s mouth is bigger than John Mayer.
Lastly, this is a PR stunt for Make a Wave and CR2 and SWAC and then wham bam they will no longer be a couple.

this reminds me of the conversation we were having not so long ago about the boys lying to the fans. With something as sensitive as their private lives, they won’t always give the direct truth as its not always what the fans want to hear. Look at the commotion ‘jemi’ has caused today, its been trending all day on twitter because whilst some people are happy about it, others aren’t. Besides, it seems that joe and demi didn’t have feelings for one another before, but only recently did those feelings change. So who knows, demi might not have lied about her relationship with joe before.

I don’t think Demi is a savvy at handling interviews as other Disney stars. I have to wonder if she really meant to say anything cause this really isn’t Dinsey or JB’s M.O. when it comes to relationships. I don’t think she has even been in a relationship with a high enough profile that interviewers cared to “interrogate” her about. I think she cracked…either that or she knew exactly what she was doing and wanted the PR.
Sorry to say that I think she knew exactly what she was doing. Demi has been around long enough to know how to handle an interview. She wanted to release this information and release it right now when they have a song, a video and a movie coming out.
I think Demi is confirming something we have all known but didn’t want to admit. All her gushy tweets lately, especially lyrics from “Lucky” about being in love with your best friend make much more sense.
I understand why people would be bummed but mad? Sure they both said they were like family and they would never date but things change, feelings change and I think this all started when they filmed Camp Rock with the whole Zac Taylor thing.
I don’t want to feel like this, I really don’t, but I have a super wierd feeling about this. It just seems wierd to me HOW she confessed that she is dating him. Somehow I think this is a PR stunt. I’m sorry, but I really think it is.

From listening to the interview, she didn’t bring it up and she didn’t sound super comfortable talking about it either. Maybe they both decided that it was time to come clean with it and stop pretending like nothing was happening when it was becoming super obvious.
I think they are really cute together. They know each other and have been through a lot together and that bonds people. In their industry, I’m sure its hard to find someone who can love you for you and not for what you do and I think that’s easy for the two of them.
We need to be supportive. I don’t want to believe that Joe would do this for publicity, he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy. It’s not like they are out being photographed every single day.. She said Joe takes her out places and we haven’t seen them..I’d love to hear what Joe has to say about all of this.
I’m not convinced that Demi intended to share. I think she just tends to be honest, if asked directly. I believe that Kevin, Joe, and Nick have wanted to be honest in the past, too, but they prefer their privacy so much that they twisted the truth sometimes to (attempt to) preserve it. (Yes, I’m being kind to JB right now.) Ever since the Larry King interview where Joe admitted to dating someone (Camilla) and Kevin admitted to dating Danielle, I think they have been less guarded about their dating lives. Nick didn’t say (in January/February) that he wasn’t dating Selena, he just said he didn’t want to discuss it. Joe said he was single, and dating casually.
I could be wrong, I just don’t think that dating is a publicity stunt for any of them. I think they try to not admit dating someone for as long as they can, generally. In Demi’s case, I think she’s just not as good at dodging the questions. :)
I agree canadashan. Their well-established friendship made it easy for people to brush off the signs and kept the press from jumping on it (unlike Nick and Selena who couldn’t be seen together without setting off bells).

Barbara I totally agree. I think Nick is the least comfortable with talking about his personal life. He has had to deal with it on a really large scale with Miley and would prefer to just not talk about it at all. Joe comes across more open and willing to address rumours (at least more recently) I guess we just have to wait for his response to the whole thing.
I admire the boys and Demi when they are honest but I understand why they keep these thins to themselves. They know the response it’s going to get…look on the internet right now and you’ll see some people are not happy. It’s a gamble to be open with the one thing you keep private.
I know I’m commenting a lot here… in the video, right after Demi admits they’re dating and right before Billy comments about Joe’s glasses, Demi makes a comment that’s hard to hear. It’s something like “We’re finally, you know, just taking the next step.” If I heard her correctly, I’d say this is a really recent development. In the last few weeks or so. That’s my guess, but I don’t really know.
I also just wanted to say that some fans (not 99.9% of you guys) are really ungrateful. This is going to come off like a rant and I’m sorry but the boys can’t win in their eyes.
If they are honest and open about something, it’s not good enough. They kept it to themselves too long and they have been lying all this time.

I don’t think there has been one JB relationship (other than Kev and Danielle) that hasn’t been called a publicity stunt. Taylor and Joe, Joe and Camilla, Nick and Selena and Nick and Miley (part 2) have all been called PR stunts because either one had some project coming out. I even read something that said “Nick and Selena broke up so the publicity shifts to Joe and Demi and that’ll last till June when the tour starts” Like….WTF!
I really don’t understand why people are getting mad about this. Why would these three boys, so open about their feelings and whatnot, lie about relationships for publicity? It’s ridiculous. And for it to be with people they’ve worked with and be friends with for a long time, why is it a bad thing?

Re: publicity stunts… people do interviews when they have projects coming out. And that’s when they get asked questions, including personal questions. So, like canadashan said, people make assumptions/accusations about relationships being publicity stunts, when really that’s just when they can’t help talking about relationships (or else being asked about them).

It can’t be for PR though. Really? Seriously. Like Netter said on twitter, if this is for publicity for a project, why didn’t anyone say that about Liam and Miley? It’s ridiculous. These two have been friends for at least 2 years. They can find things about each other they like. They’ve actually spent tons of time together.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this! Joe and Demi are the perfect couple, in my opinion. They both have similar careers and they know how hard it is to maintain a relationship while touring/filming/making appearances/etc, so they understand each other. And to the haters, it’s not your life, so you can’t tell them how to live, just let them live the lives they want and be happy for them. I’ve been waiting for Jemi to happen for the longest time, and I’m so glad it’s confirmed! I wish them all the best :)

I really don’t know what to think. What confuses me is that all of this happens now all of a sudden, with Make a Wave just released, and Camp Rock 2 ahead – they’ve known each other for quite a while, and they’ve both been single for some time, so why is it NOW that they choose to date? Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re both lovely people and would be a very cute couple. I just don’t get why, even after years of them saying they’d never date – if not a PR stunt, I really don’t know what it is. One things for sure, it’s being blown up into something it doesn’t need to be.
And these are just my honest thoughts. I really don’t want this to grow into some mess, like these sort of things often come to be. I just think it’s strange how most DC stars end up “dating” when some sort of project they’re in comes out.
Ok this message goes out to “Dari loves jonas” / “Taylorrr” / “maddi” / whatever new name you get: please STOP spamming about Nick&Selena.
Seriously, just stop. You keep commenting about them every five minutes and you always say the same, so I just keep deleting your comments. I just rewatched an interview with Joe that aired around the beginning of February. (E! news). At that time he was happily single, by his own admission. When did Joe and Demi go to Disney to perform the Make a Wave song? I’m thinking that that started something. Just a guess. :)

People keep saying she’s a liar because she used to say he was like a brother and she would never date him. That makes me so angry.
When Demi said she’d never date him, that’s probably how she felt at the time. That doesn’t make it a lie.
Things change. People change. And love is complicated.

Well, one thing is for certain — and I feel bad for them for this — but they are going to be stalked by the paparazzi until someone gets that first “official” couple shot. Maybe they’ll just get it over with sooner rather than later so that the chatter can die down just a tad.
And Elizabeth – totally agree. They date each other because that’s who they meet. It’s just like any other high school experience — they just happen to not go to an actual building, but they see the same people all the time. It’s natural. I just feel bad for them that they end up dating in the public eye — the rest of us got to get to go through the awkward stages of dating in relative anonymity.
Honestly, I don’t see how that confirmed anything. I want an actual confirmation.

The fact she tweeted about the jason mraz song ‘lucky to be in love with my best friend’, or joe’s deleted ‘xo’ tweet to her, it’s all super cute. And yea i remember commenting that the make a wave video made me like the song more than i did at first, and this new revelation makes me like it more still.
The picture on gossipfasho did look like they were on a date. I’m genuinely happy for them, it’s been a long time coming.

About the whole publicity stunt thing, when are the boys or Demi or Miley or Selena or anybody in Disney not promoting something? They are working all the time, so any relationship could be considered a “publicity stunt” because they are always doing publicity! but maybe the time they are spending together on the project sparked something….haha and we are all making so many assumptions it’s so funny, but I’m happy for them : )
